Coalescence Coffee is about coming together to bring something new and life-giving into the world. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for the common good to flourish in our little city. We do this every day in one of the simplest ways possible: by offering a place for our community to enjoy a cup of coffee while working or while enjoying the company of old friends—and new ones. While we’re all living out our daily cycles of work and rest, which can sometimes feel quite lonely, everything still comes back to the community. It coalesces into a circle of friendship and reconciliation in which everything circles back again to the common good.
That’s why we’ve called our newest charitable initiative The Circle. The Circle is a way to help others outside our immediate community to achieve the common good. It functions through your charitable giving, and that giving goes towards small, community-oriented reconciliation projects.
For instance, we will help a group of entrepreneurs in Kigali, Rwanda, to open their own Coalescence Coffee which aims to be a place of reconciliation between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes between whom, in 1994, major class conflict broke out, resulting in genocide and the deaths of an estimated 500,000-800,000 Tutsis. Reconciliation efforts have been going on since then, and the new shop will be one small part of that. It will become a place where members of both tribes can meet, discuss their differences and discover similarities, and renew friendships—all over a simple cup of Coalescence coffee. This isn’t our only charitable goal; we’ll be announcing many more in the future of which you can be a part.
How can you be a part of The Circle? It’s easy. The Circle runs on monthly donations of $50+. That probably seems like a lot to ask for, but we want to make it worth your time. Apart from being 100% tax deductible with an annual receipt, we’ve thrown in a couple bonus goodies. These include:
